Master painter, Daniel Bilmes is unlike any artist; he applies hundreds of hectic scratches, strokes, and scrapes of paint that are applied, removed and applied again to form highly romantic and ethereal images. (And did I mention he’s only 29 years old?) Combining realism with elements of symbolism and abstraction, his paintings have a magical, brooding tone that captures the eye with their tactile textures.
We were so excited to attend his first solo show, Paradigm, at the legendary Arcadia Contemporary Gallery in Old Town Pasadena on Saturday, April 13th, 2019 from 6-9 PM. My boss, Linda Wehrli, and her hubby took great close-up photos from the gallery opening night. Here are some of their faves:
My boss wanted to say, “It is a thrill to attend Arcadia Contemporary’s Gallery Openings and meet the honored artist. We found Daniel Bilmes to be as warm and kind as he is talented. When I mentioned hosting a Demo + Workshop at Pastimes for a Lifetime’s studio, he openly embraced the invitation. Hoping to have him as a guest instructor soon.”
Missed the gallery opening? No worries! The show runs through April 28, 2019.
