I am lucky and grateful to live in a city where I can drive a few miles to attend my favorite artists’ Solo Shows at Arcadia Contemporary!
I first met renown artist John Brosio in January of 2017 when my boss, Linda Wehrli and I interviewed him for Pastimes for a Lifetime‘s Artist Interview Blog. I was immediately drawn to his beautifully haunting paintings, many of which portray a societal setting mixed with bizarre creatures or tornadoes, depicting that perhaps the “American Dream” is not as splendid as it may seem. His use of light and shadow is perfection and his paintings feed my dark sense of humor. A rarity! His artwork tells an intriguing story that lures you in, making you study his work for hours.
Suffice it to say, I was excited to attend his Solo Show, Recent Paintings at Arcadia Contemporary in Old Town Pasadena on Saturday, September 15th from 6 – 9 PM. Here are close-ups of some of my favorites from the night. Hope you enjoy!
To find out more about the artist, please check out his website.
If you missed the opening night, no worries; the show runs until September 30th. Here is the link to the complete online catalog.
