What better way to celebrate Fall in LA than a home-grown, eclectic, music festival! The second annual Fall Fest 2015 music festival was held in Studio City, California on Saturday, November 14.
The festival featured a variety of talented local and regional California acts, an assortment of delicious food and drinks, arts and crafts, and other fun activities, like a pie-eating contest! Homemade chili, pulled-pork, empanadas, hot cider and other sweet treats were for sale. Tickets were $15 for the event which ran from 2 – 9pm. It’s a great deal!
What makes Fall Fest so special? It is hosted by a group of east-coast transplants at a private space called the “Compound”. Everything is DIY, including the decor, food, and stage. The goal for Fall Fest is to promote up-and-coming artists and to celebrate the beauty of the Fall season while listening to groovy music!
Eight bands from the West Coast and beyond performed, including Inland Empire “psychedelic jazz pop”, Brainstory, Orange County rockers, The Bluffs and Philadelphia lo-fi singer-songwriter, Laser Background. Two six-piece groups, Purple Mountains Majesties and The Mosaics, melted minds with their harmony-rich, psych-rock. Portland’s singer-songwriter, Jackson Boone and San Francisco’s The Electric Magpie closed out the mini-festival with a psych/garage/mod-rock sound that resembled the lovely sounds of The Kinks and The Beatles. Dream-pop rockers, Sumeau, played a special late-night set to end a magical day.
Be sure to check out the fun next fall at the Fall Fest 2016 in Studio City, CA!
